How long do you wait to smoke newly received cigars

Am curious of others methods, and just trying to gauge a time by posts isnt nearly as easy as a poll, so here it is above. Cast you votes.

Usually not long enough with new to me cigars and sometimes regret it If it's a restock, at least a couple of weeks to a couple of months. I have found some brands really benefit from at least a year, like Warped for example.

Really depends on what cigar it is. If I get more than one, sometimes I'll smoke one ROTT and let the others sit for a month or so to acclimate.

It really depends. If it's something I have in stock it's likely months. If it's new to me, I probably wait a week or longer. But if the new to me is a box purchase, the majority of the cigars in that box could age for a year or longer before I get to it.

Should probably mention that i voted for a week, while like Stogie5150, some are within a couple days of arrival.

So far have only had 1 cigar that was just terrible tasting right away, but after 3 months in my tupperdor, they were like a whole new cigar. Very odd as others from the same vendor and same order smoked fine whenever the mood hit me within about a week.

I have a lot of trouble even making it a week with new to me cigars. I'm always so anxious to try one.

My habit is to smoke one (if it's new to me) ROTT . If that one is good, they're going to be okay. If not ok, maybe rest will help.

This is an an answer I totally expected and the reason for the "Else-Please explain " button

Depends if i just got a fiver or a box. Both typically get one tested within a week, but fivers will get smoked up within a couple months at most, while a box gets smoked slowly over the course of about a year.

Thanks for the detailed answer.

I'm pretty anal about getting my cigars into a tupperdor asap, but the average humidity in my room is like 32%. That said, i know it honestly wouldn't hurt them to sit out for a couple weeks. I recall once reading that the rule of thumb was gaining or losing roughly 2% rh about every 2 weeks.

No idea if that's true or not, as i have never seen it mentioned anywhere but the post i read it in.

I also understand about tupperdor tetris starting just recently. Both my 74qt tupperdors are completely filled now, so i had to use 2, roughly 80ct tupperdors for overflow, and my genius ass will be ordering 2 more bundles in a couple weeks, so they will have to go in overflow too.
