Anything interesting?

Honestly I didn't even know that they were still arose be. Sad how far they have faded since Lew retired.

I've been getting the emails but so far I haven't seen anything all that special that put me in the buying mood. A lot of samplers.

The only thing "special" is that they've been offering a lot of free shipping. Ordinarily, that would get me to look, but I already have free shipping with JR, so that "bonus" doesn't mean anything to me.

that montecristo offer sounded good on the outside because MC does sell an awesomely nice lighter and cutter (probably dupont made). But that one JR offered is a crappy cutter and a generic lighter

I remember a time when I would hurry home from work, just to log on and check the new special, posted at midnight. ( I was working 2nd shift at the time)

We would have a 12 DOC thread, discussions, trades, etc. all revolving around the sales.

How the mighty have fallen.

I remember those days as well. And remember the 1AM Madness every Sunday morning? Those were the days!

I get the feeling that maybe in those days some of those promotions were done not to make a bunch of money but to make the customers talk and to reward customers.

Now it feels like they are going through the motions and trying to maximize their profits

Probably good for the owners, sad for the people who bought from them

And a free bottle opener hat doesn't make me go 'ooo let's find some cigars to but so I can get that'

Agree!

Like many others here, my first cigar bulletin board was the old JRBB.
After it was shut down I found my way to CW and am certainly glad I did.
