Beads have black mold

I have dried out this container of beads but the mold still is on the beads. Should they be pitched? Or can the mold be rinsed off?

I haven't had mold on beads. But here's my opinion:

I don't think you'd be able to get rid of every last spore. I think it would come back. Pitch 'em.

Lemme know if you might want to try some Litter Beads. I have lots.

I once had this problem when I was recharging them with tap water. Not wanting to risk the dangers of inhaling mold spores I tossed them and got new ones.

Distilled water only. Tap water has contaminants.

mold is typically from standing water

make sure that you only add enough water so that approx 70% of the beads are wet

i'd definitely toss them and get more

Toss the beads AND the container. You should have the beads stored in the mesh type socks versus a container to avoid problems or the tubes that have LOTS of small holes. A finch bird feeder is the same thing as the beads holder. You can try panty hoses as well if a lady frined of yours has an order one in the back of her drawer.

Toss the beads and container IMO.
If you need some litter beads to replace them, LMK.
