Cigar Review: EP Carrillo Edicion Inaugural 2009

After reading this review, I decided to spark the one I had sitting since the Post Turkey Day Cigar Crawl in Dallas. Several guys at the event fired thiers up and said that they needed a rest. For me to leave a cigar resting for 3 months that I have never had is a supreme test if my will. I couldn't stand it any longer so I had to fire it up. Some of the guys weren't impressed so I left it as long as I could to help with the smoking experience.

The cigar lit easily and burned great throughout the smoke. It had a concrete strong white ash. I was not impressed with the flavors at first. Since I don't work for CA I smoked it longer than ten minutes. I am glad I did. At about the half way point the flavors started to change for me. Lots of complexity developed and an intresitng creamy nature developed that I quite liked. The creamy flavors were unique and intriguing to me. The cigar never developed more than a slight medium body but the flavors in the latter part of the cigar I really liked(though I had to smoke half of the churchill before reaching that point.).

As a point of reference I perfer strong full bodied cigars. This one did not reach that status for me. I will say it is a very good cigar and those who don't want thier teeth knocked in on a daily basis by a cigar will enjoy this gem. I am a Carillo fan and will always try his releases to see what he has come up with. For my tastes, this cigar misses the mark but hopefully others with be bolder and fuller bodied.
