Valiente is a Dominican Bundle Cigar. Where I acquired the one I smoked I am not sure. I AM certain that I did not purchase it from Thompson's (the only place I have seen it for sale) for a 2 bundles for $49 price tag.
Appearance 12/20 - When a cigar is going for cheap one of the first things to go is the quality of the wrapper leaf. From what I have read, a good bundle of Ct. Shade tobacco runs $50/lb. If that is the case, this bundle must have been at least half off. The cigar is a mottled brown with a gray hue to it. Quite veiny to a point that is distracting, and quite bumpy, making it uncomfortable to hold Construction 17/20 - Well it may not be the best tobacco, but the roller certainly did his/her job putting this together. A good prelight draw through a flavorless shell of a cigar. Flavor - 35/20. All Dominican All the Time. Too many cigars have (IMNSHO) gone after Macanudo with their ultra mild blending designed especially with the MCW in mind. Not dramatically bad, but absolutely nothing in the way of a redeeming feature. If you were to consider Macanudo the Absolut of cigars then this turkey is the Generic Brand Vodka with citrus flavoring. Overall - 7/10 - Not a bad smoke considering the price of about $1 per stick. But I certainly wouldn't want to own 50 of this little gems. Total - 71. A passable cigar and nothing more. Would I add it to my rotation of cigars? Not a shot. Just too boring to own.
