Wow, an excess tax of 90%, I can see why she is leaving the state of NY.

Good for Michelle. I hope these states that have confiscatory taxes on things like cigars and people's income lose a hell of a lot more businesses and high tax paying individuals.

The only potential setback I see is the oversaturation of cigar shops in Florida. Hopefully they can make it work though. Going from the NY tax rate to a 0% tobacco tax will be an amazing plus for them. Here's wishing them the best of luck!

Thumbs up

I will miss them all very much but I'm sure that I'll be down to Florida to see the new operation soon. They are throwing a big bash on the 18th as a thank you event to all of thier customers. Hope to see a number of you there......

Although I've never been to New York, or Uptown Cigars this is terrible.

Unfortunately I think that this will become more common in the near future as all 50 states try to make up for budget shortfalls. Of course they are going to raise taxes on things (tobacco, alcohol, etc.) that they see as bad habits thus benefiting the public health. Behold the shortsightedness of the Nanny State....
