Some consider The Allman Brothers Band as the progenitors of "southern rock". Duane Allman had already died in a motorcycle accident before this song was written and recorded. In addition to being a very talented musician, Gregg Allman was famously married to Cher for a few years fathering one of her children, Elijah Blue Allman.

I liked this song so much I wanted to name our oldest daughter Jessica. The spousal unit did not agree. We know how that turned out.
