Beads+aroma

Does anyone know why my 65%RH beads that have been in my 200ct humi are beginning to give off a powerful, perfumey type aroma? FWIW, these are the Climmax beads that Vern used to sell.

I've had this humi for a couple of years and there are no flavored cigars being sored in there. The beads are maybe a few years old and still seem to hold the humidity well. Wondering whether the perfumey aroma is a sign they're finally giving up the ghost. Anyone with a similar experience?
