New Box Storage
If you're storing new boxes in a colerdor do you crack the box of leave them as is?
What if the box is sealed?

Any way is fine.
Warehousing and vendors store em sealed, theres no reason not to yourself. I just stack mine, so they are closed. The boxes arent even close to a sealed environment so plenty of air gets in there. - Sean

I have the vendors open the box and check the sticks, so I don't have any that are sealed. I store the boxes closed, there really is no need to crack them open if your system is stable. They will adjust to the system RH just fine.

I have both cracked open and shut(not sealed) boxes in my coolerdor and I do not notice any real difference between the cigars moisture levels of either. It would seem the boxes breath enough on their own if they are seasoned to the proper humidity level before you introduce any cigars to them. Just my HO

It's the N/C's that I'm wondering about. If I ever get a full box that I can keep my hands out of, I'll try to keep it as is...

Erik,
I posted a few down the page, "loading the coolidor". I got about half and half with open boxes and closed boxes. I decided to close mine for easier stacking/storage. I realize that its only been about 10 days but so far so good. Bob |
