Exploding a'bunadh
Based on a couple of the recent threads here on a'bunadh, I knew it was something I just had to try. So I ordered a bottle from one of my favorite online purveyors of fine wine & liquor. UPS delivered it yesterday. We're having plenty of ice, snow, and very cold temps here in mid-Missouri right now, so it got plenty cold during its stay in the big brown truck (as in very cold!). Anyway, I went ahead and cut the seal so I could take a deep sniff even though I knew I would let it warm up to room temp before I sampled it. I recorked it and set the bottle out on my liquor cabinet with the other single malts and went to bed. This morning when I got up I noticed that the bottle was now uncorked and the cork was on the floor in front of the cabinet. At first I thought our two cats had been at the scotch again, but finally I decided that as the bottle warmed up everything expanded and it blew the cork! Now I'm wondering if I hadn't cut the seal, would the whole bottle have exploded. Tonight I poured a couple of fingers over some ice and MY-OH-MY, that is some good stuff. By the way, my bottle is from batch 10.

Seriously though, that's one stout, thick-glassed bottle. Designed to withstand weather extremes as well as the hardened hands of hard-swilling Scots. Killer stuff, no?

It needs to be a stout bottle or it would eat right through it!! This is some of the most powerful whisky I've ever laid my lips on.

True Dat!! But brother if you let it breathe for a few minutes, it is one of the sweetest and complex scotches I have had.
