GL Pease Jackknife Plug

I prefer the ready rubbed version for this reason:

The plug version comes like this

So then you have to prep it like this

With one of these

Then I go one step further because I don't like chunky tobacco, it never smokes right for me, with this

To finally end up with this

I used to get a kick out of doing tobacco prep, but the novelty has worn off. Overall, a bit of work that I would prefer not to do. Just want to load and smoke...

The prep on plug tobacco is a chore, but I enjoy it. I have to admit, most of the time I prefer to load and go, so I seldom smoke plug tobacco. Probably the reason why my oldest aged tobacco are plugs.

I like Triple Play a little bit better than Jack Knife. The added perique makes it a bit tastier.

4 1/2 years later, opening of an 8 ounce tin. Quite the loud whoosh when opened!

What's the difference between Plug and Cake? I've not yet gone beyond buying and storing either variety. Internet wisdom says no different in the finished product, but rather Cake is ribbon cut and Plug is larger leaves before pressing.

Also, while looking for the above I remembered these 2011's. Is this the normal amount of "swole" for cans of this age?

Plug tobacco is just a block of tobacco which can be put through a cutter and cut into flakes. The plug can be cut into thicker or thinner strips according to the customer’s choice… if you purchase a ‘block’ of tobacco you can use a knife to cut exactly what you want to smoke.

Crumble Cake Tobacco means that a blend is made into loose ribbon and then it is pressed, but not pressed as tightly as if it were a plug or flake… A crumble cake plug has been pressed using ribbon-cut tobacco rather than large pieces of leaf or whole leaves such as in flakes. Crumble Cake has some of the same characteristics of plug tobacco as its just ribbon tobacco that has been compressed, but you can pinch a little piece off and rub it out to get a more fermented ribbon cut tobacco.

Thanks SLR. Sounds like both will involve a few extra steps of ritual before enjoying. I'm good with that.
