H.R. Claro Rothschild
This is the second of four reviews for White Hat Hirochi Robaina cigars, this time the white-banded Habano Claro.
Mostly smooth wrapper with a couple of veins and a light ginger aroma. Firm bunch, clean clip and a slightly firm cold draw. The draw opens up when the cigar is lit with almond and gingerbread notes and white pepper in the retrohale that fade fairly quickly. Much more of a medium body cigar than one might expect from a claro. The burn is mostly even and the ash is light grey and looks like it might drop on me although it is not flaky. As predicted, the ash dropped at about 3/4" in. Tonight's beverage selection is Bell's Two Hearted Ale, an American IPA that has been rated as best American craft beer. I'm not sure I'd go that far, but it is good and matches well with the cigar. At one third the white pepper notes return to the retrohale and the almond and gingerbread notes are very smooth with a light touch of leather notes. The burn is a bit off along one vein and gets a touch up. At two thirds the burn along the vein remains problematic, but the flavors remain smooth. The white pepper notes have subsided again but the overall flavor is still very pleasant. Towards the final inch the burn remains uneven along the vein, not responding to touch ups. A hint of bitterness has to be purged to get back to the flavor profile, which is still rich and tasty and has a creamy finish. For this particular cigar, I'm giving it 7.5/10. Another sample with a smoother wrapper would score higher. Joe Bob says check it out.

These are really good, every one I've had has been perfect. Do you need another sample? It's not like this is unusual, I get duds from every brand once in a while as I'm sure most of us do.

I really like these. Definitely a new favorite of mine.
