Antique Cigar Humidors

A decade and more ago I was heavily into antique and vintage cigar humidors and ashtray stands. Photos of my resurrection projects were all over this forum. Then Cigar Weekly did a major software upgrade which wiped out the existing user albums. Plus I was away for awhile getting deep into the pipe smoking hobby. I've quit pipes now and renewed my interest in cigars and their associated equipment.
I thought it might be fun to re-post photos of old projects so new people can see them and maybe initiate some discussion. I might post some new projects as I get going again too.

First post is of what I called the Jewett humidor. So called because there was a label inside that read: The Jewett Humidor Buffalo, N.Y.
In the beginning I bought what was cheap. So condition was hit or miss. Pic as bought:

Hard to tell what's under the blackened varnish, dings and scratches.

Interior was all copper with a clay humidifier. There must have been some trays to fit over it. They were long gone.

Wood turned out to be solid striped mahogany. Box is a bit taller than usual to compensate for the humidifier compartment. Finish was actually nicer than the poor lighting in the pic shows.

Early on I thought more cedar lining was better. I kept the inner lid copper just to show what it had been. Plus the copper was corroded in the bottom. removing it allowed more room for cigars. A nice tray finished it off. And I kept the Jewett plate. It's a prize! I was pretty happy with this one.

Thanks Tommy! You know that you are just encouraging me. I did a rough count yesterday and found I did about 40 of these. Probably around that many ashtray stands too. Not every one is worth posting, but a lot of them might be worth seeing for people who enjoy this kind of thing.

Should I just pile everything onto this thread or would separate ones be better?

I enjoyed your old humi and ashtray stories before and am sure I will now. Even chatted with you over pm about the old ashtray stands you refinished at one point. If your ever looking to part with one you refinished because you have too many....you have a buyer here! Just sayin'
