Question Old time perculators

What do you guys use if your power goes out and you to make coffee? If my power goes out, I have no way to make coffee.

My wife and I use a French press to make coffee since we have cut back on our coffee drinking. As long as you have a source of hot water you're set.

What Shadow said. If you have a gas stove, you are good to go. If not, you'll need some type of alcohol burner. If you have a gas stove, you could always use a moka pot too.

I have one I use for camping but the coffee sucks that comes out of it. But it is coffee while camping.

I'd make cowboy coffee at home before I would use that percolator at home.

French press. Moka pot.

I have never been without either water or gas, but we haven't had a single year in this house that didn't include power outages that lasted for at least a full day or two, and we've gone for as long as a week without power, always during extreme weather.

The true irony is that when the tornado blew almost a quarter of the town five miles east of where it belonged, we never lost power, phone, or internet, and honestly, I almost wish we had. We didn't sleep at all for a couple days, and we were glued to the internet, radio, television, all that time.

But by god, we had coffee.

Press, moka, and I also have a couple of old pour overs. I even have a single serving pour over.

My problem is going to be water during a long term power outage. Getting the well ready for the generator is a priority project for me this spring.

I will open the lid on my cuisinart drip pot, and pour hot water (tea kettle!) over the grounds...
