I never understood that "yard gar" mentallity. I used to hear that a lot at another board... someone must do a lot of "yard work." The first time I heard this term, I think it was a certain well-known vendor that introduced it.
A cigar is either good or it's bad. And of course, different people will have different opinions. I met a new friend recently at a herf / vendor giveaway at a local tobacco shop. As we talked we realized we had much in common (concerning cigars). I knew we'd hit it off when, out of the blue, he made a comment about La Finca's. Of course, the comment was followed by shudders and a look of remembered illness and pain. C'mon guys they aren't THAT bad. I bought a box from Lew about a year ago and they have aged well. I realize they aren't one of his ULTs or my favorite Excaliburs, but gosh I can't afford the best all of the time. Besides it's still not a Tampa Nugget.

FSU, they're horrible (to me). When I first started smoking cigars I bought some. PPG (PowerPuffGirl) once told me they were the smelliest things she'd ever smelled. One day after, while smoking one, I realized I hated them. Why was I smoking them? Because I had "convinced" myself they "weren't bad" for the price- and because people at another board were pretty convincing that "they're not bad for the price". I took the remaining 230 or so sticks and crushed them up- I wouldn't even give these away. They are horrible (to me).
From that day on, I swore I would never again say, "They are good for the price." I will only smoke what I like, not what I can necessarily afford the greatest number of. If I ever get to the point where I can't afford them, I will simply smoke less- but I WILL only smoke what I like. Thus was born to me the phrase, it is EITHER GOOD or BAD. There is no such creature as GOOD FOR THE PRICE. And I don't like Ults-until they explain to me what LeMonde is, I ain't buyin it. Excal 1066 is ok.
