Fridgedor with wine?

I am looking into converting my wine cooler into a humidor and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to still keep wine in the fridge? Im not a big wine drinker, it is just some family wine and some so-so champagne I usually keep in there for guests. Thanks!

It depends on a couple of things. What temperature are you setting and what type of wine red or white? Champagne may not last too long, in my experience unless it is cared for very precisely and I will not let it sit for more then a year. For the wine, if it is kept too cold, it will not mature very well if at all. Typically whites should be kept at cooler temperatures then reds. Then if none of the wines are vintage, you don't really want to keep them too long as well. Of course this is just my humble opinion. Before what I use to do before I had a wine humidor was kept my wine in the basement or in the center of the house where the temperature didn’t fluctuate much if at all; just don’t get the wine hot.

I use my wine cooler as a humidor, and I wouldn't keep wine in it. Not because of any problems, but because it cuts out room for cigars!

Actually, I wouldn't because as you chill the wine there's the potential for condensation on the outside of the bottles. That would make humidity fluctuate.

Is the wine cooler thermo-electric or condenser? I wouldn't use it for cigars unless it's TE. Otherwise the humidity swings are way too big.

I was about to post a similar question and decided to just tag onto this one. How about one of the dual zone coolers for cigars on one side, and wine on the other?

That's really cool! I'd think that would be okay, since the problem with storing them together isn't temperature, it's the humidity. As long as you aren't keeping the cigars too cold, and humidity stays pretty stable in the cigar side I think you should be just fine.

Although unless you want the coolness factor of having them both in the same thing, you might just want to pick up 2 VinoTemp thermoelectric wine coolers. The one I got holds 28 bottles (as opposed to the 24 each side of that one holds), and runs just under $200. So you could get 2 of them for less than the one you have listed there. That way they're still holding plenty of cigars, but you don't have to worry about keeping them in the same cooler. And the one I have has a TON of space.
