damn...one hell of a mark up, from $1.45 to $10.00 per pound.

I worked in the coffee industry for years in Canada's largest privately owned coffee roaster. I can easily say that in the costs alone of running a roaster (let alone buying the roaster and cooling drums....and packaging machines....), this mark-up doesn't equate to a huge amount of profit for the roaster as it might appear off hand.

Everybody needs to make a buck - the energy company, the growers, brokers, roasters, packing supply company, shippers........it goes on and on.
