Whiskey Tasting Event
I went to a whiskey tasting the other night put on by Jim Beam Distillery. Had a great time. We tasted Knb Creek, Bookers, Dalmore, and Laphroig. They called it the "Great Whisk(e)y Debate". Fred Noe was there and another gentleman representing Dalmore and Laphroig. They put on a good show busting each others balls. We got to taste there wares, they had a drawing and handed out several bottles of each, and hats. Afterwards there was a reception with hot wings and other food with all you could drink including Basil Hayden, and Bakers. Check out Knob Creeks web site under events. Looks like several events in TX and California and Chicago. I had a great time! Hey, free booze

I wish they would bring this debate to Boston.

Wish I'd read this sooner--I was supposed to go to Austin this weekend (the nearest venue) but I put it off till next week.
If you like free booze, you might consider the Johnnie Walker Black tastings. I went to a couple and it was pretty interesting: they have five of the component whiskies at each setting (Talisker, Glenkitchie, etc) and guide you through the tasting. I think you can sign up online at johnniewalker.com

I've been to the Johnny Walker event.
Very good.
