coolerador smells
I just set up a coolerador, and I think it's doing ok, I just switch out the blue ice packs and keep it around 65degrees and 60-70 RH.
Is this fluctuation in humidity ok?? I can't seem to keep it steady. I think I'll get some beads... well anyhoo..when I come home from work, and I open that bad boy up, it is the greatest smell in the world. It seems that my sticks are all so much more fragrant in a coolerador...anyone else get this???

Your ice packs are causing dips in RH. Notice how they are covered in condensation? Where do you think that condensation comes from? The air!

Try putting you'r ice packs in a zip lock bag. See if that helps.

There really is nothing you can do for a humidification point of view that will help. The ice is causing a relatively rapid cooling and condensation. Humidification devices just can't compensate as rapidly. I think you need to make a choice: steadier RH and higher temps, or lower temps and variable humidity. How high would the temp be if you didn't mess around with the ice? Are you without a/c? I keep my coolerdor in the basement and the humidity never budges from 67%. The temp ranges from 71-75 degrees.

The temp hovers around the mid seventies, without the ice packs.

I'd say to heck with the ice then.

cool
Ok then, I think I'll just worry about keeping the humidity squared away.
Thanks.
