I recently attended a Johnny Walker Black event and was fortunate enough to taste Talisker Single Malt. Now I am hooked, however; this stuff is $78.00 a bottle and I cannot afford that right now. Are there any other single malts that have that heavy smoke and peat flavor like Talisker that is easier on the pocketbook?

$78 is a very high price for Talisker. I'm used to seeing it for about $40 or $45. An alternative is Laphroaig 10; it's a little less sweet and a little more peaty. If you have access to Trader Joe's, they usually have it for $29.95; otherwise you'll likely have to pay about $35.
