How much salt and how much water should i use (and is it ok to use a penut jar cuz they would already have had salt on them.) this is my first time doing this so any info would help btw i did use the search feature and looked at the first 15 posts and didnt get this info.

Try here for some good info...
http://www.cigargroup.com/faq/ or here... http://questions.askit.com/askit?topic=2341182860 But in short... Place some salt in the bottle cap, about a teaspoon. Add in only enough water to make a thick paste, you don't want it to be soupy. I don't think the peanut jar would hurt, I would rinse it out first. Let the hygrometer sit overnight in the sealed jar.

I don't think I'd leave a digital hygrometer in overnight. Most digital hygrometer instuctions tell you not to salt test due to the possiblity of damaging the electronics. So I'd recommend leaving it in there no longer than necessary.
