Congrats to Rice! Believe it or not, Ive followed their football team since i was real little, simply because when i played my dad's football pools I'd circle their team name because I liked rice, the food.

as the years went by, and i learned that they were one of the best academic schools in the country, i appreciated their gumption for trying to play big time football...and getting their asses kicked every week.

Now, they finally have a championship, in Baseball. Nice. Congrats, owls!

They have one hell of a coach. I admire Rice, Vanderbilt and Tulane (as much as I can't stand the Green Wave) for playing big time sports. Tulane's baseball team is awesome, Rick Jones is a great coach, there. Enjoyable team to watch, except when they beat my Tigers or U.N.O. Privateers.

Congratulations to the Rice Owls and their supporters.

Rice is the smallest school playing Div I athletics in the NCAA. I'd love it if either of my boys chose to go there.

When I was in high school i always said that if i was a star athlete (which i wasnt) I would have chosen Rice to play for because the winning tradition had to start somewhere. My friends kidded me, saying no scouts would ever see me play, and losing is second nature there. But it just takes one coach or player to turn something around, just like Northwestern a few years ago in football.

Here's to Rice for doing it the right way! The long suffering is over!

I was very happy for Rice. I wanted Texas to win, but this was the next best thing.

Next year I would have had to have pulled for Miami, being an ACC school and all that!!!
