Recommend for a newbie to pipes?
What sort of blends are good for beginners? I have some cherry cavendish I picked up today. Then sent out an order for a sampler at gatlinburlier.com (Cades Cove Cavendish, Cascades Cavendish, Mountain Mall Mix, and Pistachio Peak).

If you're looking to try an aromatic, I have to say the best out there is Lane's BCA or MacBaren's Vanilla Creme.
If you're looking to try an English blend, I have to recommend Penzance. If you're looking to try a straight Virginia blend, I'd have to recommend McClelland's 5100 Red Cake. If you're looking for a straight burley, well I can't help you because I've never had one I liked.

You might want to head on over to www.tobaccoreviews.com
Wealth of info over there, if you can wade through the pretentiousness of some of the reviews.

My mom had this jar with a really good seal, it held the 12oz. of tobacco perfectly.

You might check out Boswellpipes.com ... they are in your general area and have a nice variety of custom blended tobaccos. They also make decent pipes that aren't very expensive. |

No she had change in that jar, so I emptied it and cleaned it. Now it's mine.

For a nice straight burley, try Prince Albert. And yes, it is better out of the can than the pouch. Quit laughing out there!

I remember calling people when I was very young and asking if they had Prince Albert in a can ...
If they said yes, I told them that they needed to let him out so he could breathe. These days I'd be lucky to find anyone who would even know what I was talking about. |
