Good, cheap Reds
I've gotten into red wines lately, and while I can't afford to spend much on the bottles, I've found a couple that are VERY cheap I really enjoy. Barefoot Merlot ($7.99) is probably my favorite.
Any of you enjoy cheap, quality red wines? What are they? |

Charles Shaw. Have a Merlot, a Cab, and a Shiraz. $3.49/bottle. Used to be known as "Two Buck Chuck". Beats a lot of wines five times the price.

I'm pretty sure Charles Shaw is only available at Trader Joe's, who owns the rights to that name. The wine is produced by Bronco Wine Company of Ceres, California. In other areas where there aren't Trader Joes, like where I live, they sell the same wine as Crane Lake. Jason is correct. It is as good as wine several times the price. Around here, Crane Lake goes for $3.99 a bottle. So I guess it is now Four Buck Chuck.

Thanks! That's good to know.
If you don't have access to Charles Shaw, look for Crane Lake.

I like the 3 liter Octavin (box) version of Big House Red. Good red at a very good price in that format!
