Haven't had the pleasure.
But I'll down the 12 any day of the week.

Glad you like it, Glenn! I've found the 18 year old to be rather hit or miss, so if like it that much you should go back to that same store and see if they have more bottles from that exact same barrel and buy them all!

Thanks for the advice, Linn. At $39.00/bottle, I think I can manage to stash a couple more away.

BTW, I also purchased some the widely recommended A.H. Hirsch and maybe it's just me, but I find it to be a bit phenolic/astringent for my taste buds...or at least it was that way last night. I'll have to revisit it again soon.

As an aside I used to point out that the 18 year old Elijah Craig Single Barrel was the classic example of an over-aged bourbon, but to Parker & Craig Beam's credit they have vastly improved both the flavor profile and barrel selection, which is a good thing.

The 16 year old A.H. Hirsch is tannic make no mistake. Harry Beam was the master distiller for the now defunct Michter's Distillery which is where Hirsch was distilled. I had the great pleasure of being able to revisit some of the orignal Michter's Pot Stilled Whiskey (they never called it bourbon although that's exactly what it is) and I like the younger (roughly six years of age) expression much better.
