Had my best bowl yet...
I keep smoking mostly Nat Sherman tobacco as they are right next door to work and have a great selection. I had been having some trouble keeping my new Peterson lit, but today...BAM! It all came together. Might be several reasons. The pipe is breaking in which I'm sure helps. I bought some mason jars for the flake and it doesn't seem as moist as when I first bought it 2-3 weeks ago. Most importantly, I've improved my tamping and puffing skills.
I smoke cigars and tend to smoke REAL slow. Never was a problem with stogies, but my slow tempo apparently is not so good for the pipe. I only relit once, excluding the charring light this time around. Puffed a bit more frequently and it worked wonders. I'm hooked!

If you're smoking flake and find it too moist, rub some out and let it sit there to dry a bit.
I'm glad you are diggin' the pipe. |
