Can I or should I swap this sponge container?

My Alba humidor came with this sponge humidifier. I maybe new but wouldn't that cause mold or some smell? It's magnetic to hang upside down from the lid. Do y'all recommend a humidifier case with the clear beads and the glycol solution? Or no because it's upside down? My issue is, the big boveda pack just looks non aesthetically pleasing. Kinda sloppy

Use glycol solution in the sponge, not with beads. Heartfelt had a case for beads that I've been using for years. Not sure if they are still around though. I know there is at least one other company out there that does the beads cases, can't remember who though.

Understood thanks. Isn't 62% too low?

Not necessarily, but it was open long enough to drop a few %. I like to keep it at 65%

You don't need that Boveda, it's made for cabinet humidors. And as much as I'd like to believe the two-way works perfectly, I do have to replace or recharge them; also, you can over-humidify and end up with mold and soggy cigars.

Yeah that's what happened before I got a hibometer (can't spell) it was at 80%.

What's wrong with the beads? If I use the glycol with the sponge, how do I know when to add more?

I've been hearing different views on the %. But maybe because it's the people that are able to pick up notes better than others. But some say Dominicans should be around 65-68 and negrocans around 72 because they're a heavier tobacco.

Absolutely nothing, I highly recommend them. I was just saying that you don't use glycol with beads, just distilled water. If you're going to use the sponge, glycol will help regulate and keep the mold at bay. Your overthinking the RH, cigars aren't that sensitive. Hell I've left a cigar out for a week (not on purpose) and it smoked just fine. Drier is better for me. Do what's best for you.

Ok understood I didn't know that Abt the solution with the beads. I'll just grab some solution for my sponge humidifier and keep it simple. Just take the screen off and feel how wet it is once a week or so to see if I should add more solution?
