My own cocktail...sort of.

I have been trying a few new things lately and have come up with a cocktail I find superb and quite to my liking. I find this a great cool weather drink and I don't know what to call it. It has done me well for the last week. It is loosely based upon the classic Manhattan which I love.

1) Take a pint glass and fill it with ice.
2) Pour a good measure of Elijah Craig 12yo bourbon.
3) Pour a lesser measure of sweet vermouth.
4) Add a splash of bitters and a maraschino cherry.
5) Add a splash of Laphroaig.
6) Top off with soda water and enjoy.

Life is Good.

Adding that splash of Laphroaig sounds like a neat twist, Jason.

Thanks for the recipe.

Sounds good. I will have to give this one a try.

When you say a "lesser measure' of sweet vermouth, would you say a half pour to your full pour of bourbon...or does this drink taste better with ample sweet vermouth?

Yes, I use about a half pour, but it depends upon how sweet you like it. Elijah Craig is a sweet bourbon so it does not take much sweet vermouth.

Excellent. Time for a little mixology back at the house!

Thanks, O.D. ...and good luck to your football team!
