In the movie, Edge of Darkness

Tom Craven (Mel Gibson) pulls out a bottle of Crown Royal and pours a drink for Darius Jedburgh (Ray Winstone)

Jedburgh says...."You're aren't much of a partier are you? "

The script probably wasn't designed to make a dig at Crown, but it was just the timing of it. After Craven sets the bottle on the table, with label facing camera.
Then again...who knows?

hahaaaa.... thats pretty messed up.
Either the producers have a grudge against Crown, or it was just a freak incident~

Not necessarily...somebody could have been pissed at CR.
However, it mostly likely was product placement, just bad timing in the script.
It sure looked like a crown royal bottle to me. I'm pretty sure I could read Crown Royal on it. But it wasn't a real ...clear..close up.

its about money, if you can read the label, they paid for it, and unless they said "that crown royal sucks" they got what they paid for, which is... placement

Maybe they should have used a real whiskey, instead of spirits with alcohol and flavoring added.
