Water stains

My oldest humidor has some water stains on the spanish cedar where the first humidifier used to sit. It was a rectangle foam type. When it became old, it became incontinent and pissed in my humidor! I am now in the mood to fix the damage. I read someplace that denatured alcohol can remove the stains. Is this true? Are there any special steps? Or should I just tear it apart and replace the damaged cedar? I am reluctant to do this. It was my first humidor project. It has tray supports which are involved and I used more glue that I needed to. These days I use very little if any on the cedar. I appreciate any recommendations!
