Four Boxes of Ritz Crackers...

Five jars of peanut butter and six packs of vanilla almond bark.

Making the annual Christmas goodie boxes for my wife's and my extended relatives. 58 half-pints of bacon jam and apple jelly (each) made over the summer, but I have to also make the traditional candies: peanut-butter filled Ritz sandwiches dipped in almond bark, almond-bark-dipped pretzels, chocolate cashew clusters and Neiman-Marcus cookies. I've spent most of the day spreading peanut butter between Ritz crackers and will likely spend most of the rest of the day dipping them. I skipped this last year when I found out what our Obamacare expenses were going to be and the relatives have been e-mailing wondering if (or when, in some cases) the boxes are going to arrive this year (hint, hint).

I thought to myself "Man, this is such mundane and tedious work, I'd hate to have to do it for a living."

Then, I realized that this is exactly how I make my living, just not 52 weeks out of the year.

Oh well, a fire in the hearth and some recorded content on TV is at least making it bearable. It's easier than wrangling the kids.

Still have a week of this marathon ahead of me and I haven't even begun shopping for Christmas. Something tells me I need to wrap up the shopping online tomorrow (so everything gets delivered on time) and then go back to the boxes.

2-1/2 gallons of peanut butter-Ritz sandwiches. Why do I do this to myself every year?

Free speech is free speech is free speech. There is no qualifier.

If you aren't outraged, you aren't paying attention.

Never attribute malice to that what can be explained as stupidity.

Unborn lives matter too.
