Although Spanish Cedar is traditional for humidors for a few reasons (works as a beetle repellent, works well with high humidities, smells great, etc) that doesn't mean it's the only material acceptable for humidors. Hell, CAO has their Vision humidors that are made completely out of plastic.

I say it's probably fine, and as long as the seal is good I'd clean itup and use it. EXTREMELY beautiful and I'm jealous! Congrats on picking it up.
