I've seen plenty of the chrome ashtray and smoking stands on eBay over the years. The glass is almost always gone from the smoking stands. I guess it's because it's glass and glass breaks.

Should be pretty cool if you can figure something out. From the particular shine on that piece, it actually looks nickel plated. Wayyyyy extravagant.

Yes, it is nickel, not chrome.

What do you think is a good, safe polish for that?

Also, I'm thinking about a little led or some night light inside the lighter body, what with small grandchildren and all.

Well, the plating on that stuff can be worn thin. But to be honest, I use Nevr-Dull on everything. Silver, brass, nickel, it brings the shine back right quick. I don't do it often so I figure it's okay. In fact normally just once when I'm bringing something back from the grave. And really, nickel doesn't really tarnish. It dulls. So brightening that goes really quick.

My friend says that cigar ash as a paste is an excellent polish.

There's a couple solid base Art Nouveau stands I haven't posted yet. I wonder if the same company made all of these. Looks like a limited box of parts.

I can tell this is an early stand for me. first, I figured out pretty quickly that a light background works better for pics. Second, today I'd put those shaft pieces in a different order.

4 more to go! This one is very simple. To me it looked like something from a Greek temple. If they had cigars back then that is. My mind made the connection to antique bronze so that's what I went for.

I'd take a pic of mine but due to the bs you have to install to post a pic. I could send you it via email when I get home next week.
