I'll Drink to That! What is your favorite beverage to have with a cigar? Juice? Cola? Beer? Port? Single Malt Scotch? This room is for the discussion of beverages, especially alcoholic beverages that go well with cigars! |

Ok , I am all out of beer at home , so I was going to stop and get a couple of Punch cigars , then hit up the build your own six pack aisle at Kroger ... they have a wall of micros etc...
I guess I am not really asking for particular brands as much as styles/types etc... suggestions ?? Dan |

what do you like to drink
do you like hops? Think IPA or APA do you like malty/toasty? Think Marzen or Porter or Stout Your question is awfully broad, it helps to know what you currently drink You should be able to get Great Lakes Brewing beers easily They have an excellent porter (Edmud Fitzgerald) - dark, rich, kind of a chocolate thing and a superb Dortmunder (clean crisp light color), and a host of good beers https://www.greatlakesbrewing.com/beers Oh you should drink what you like... as with cigars you have to try things, you'll find stuff you love, stuff you hate, the journey is where the fun is.

Yeah I know it was a pretty broad question... Yep Great Lakes is available here along with many others , I will have to take a picture at Kroger and post it so you can look at it... In fact when I worked at Cisco , the operating systems in the various Access Points that we developed were named after Great Lakes beers... The two that I usually drink are at opposite ends of the spectrum from each other , Bud Light and Guinness... BL doesn't do much for cigars... I might see what they have in Porters and Stouts... Thanks Dan |

anything from GL is better than everything from Bud
Try the porter and the dortmunder and work outward there are not really any rules on this, it is about your tastes and your preferences. try things, I promise you won't get hit by lightning if you don't like something.

where's the Thirsty Dog and the Market Garden Brewing? And Fat Heads and Hoppin' Frog?
Seriously though, go around to every place that sells beer and see what they have. I have Giant Eagle and Heinen's by me, and the stock that each one carries is so different from the other. Keep doing the "mix a six."

We have so many microbreweries here in Texas now that I couldn't tell you the last time that I drank anything that wasn't local, with the exception of some Colorado microbreweries. There iarejust some outstanding, fresh beers out there now.

I am being a little overly dramatic, but , variety is somewhat limited here ... one place has a 4 pack of some "rare" micro brew for $35... when i go there next , if its still there i will take a picture... I bought a 6'er of Edmund Fitzgerald today $9, typical pricing... had to search for it , there were 3 6 packs ... This is your typical bud/miller town... Dan |
