"Rubbing out" my Penzance

Hey everyone,

How crumbly do you smoke your Penzance? I noticed that, without too much effort, you can rub this stuff into microscopic dust. I need someone to tell me when to stop rubbing...

I just break it up lightly, nothing too severe. Experiment different degrees and see what works best for you. Definitely don't want it in dust form.

I have a spice grinder that I grind mine up with. The grind is good and it lets it dry out a bit while handling during the grind...

Lightly, eh? I usually rub it out pretty thoroughly. I'll have to try easing back a bit. Thanks.

That seems a bit overkill as easily as Penzance crumbles and rubs out.

If I can jack my own thread- to an extent; I find Penzance to be too moist right out of the tin. Even a half hour or so of open-air drying doesn't seem to do the trick. I have a difficulty of burn and an in-pipe accumulation of moisture that I don't get with other tobaccos. Is this common? Do we need to put extra effort into drying Penzance out?

Hmmmm....I never dry mine out, but I buy bulk, not by tin.

The spice grinder I have is two wooden disk that fit into each other with maybe 15 metal pins that break up spices into 1/4 inch pieces. Not really a grind, it's the only name I can use to describe this contraption... But, it works great in bacci...

Ah, I know what you're talking about now. I was thinking one of those electric coffee grinder/spice grinder things.
