I use something similar to this..Never need to open a cooler to check. Wire is thin enough not to affect the seal

I use an Oregon Scientific wireless system. They don't make the same model anymore, but you can still find them. Mine works perfectly and has for over 10 years. No wires to deal with and I always know the exact RH without opening my humidor.
