Let me preface by saying that the cigars I tend to enjoy are medium to medium-strong. But I am not someone who buys into "the stronger the better". In fact, when I see cigars advertised as "even stronger", "extra ligero" etc. it is an immediate turnoff to me. IMO these cigars are for unsophisticated smokers trying to prove their manhood. Personally, I smoke cigars for the taste, to relax, and the comraderie. I don't need to prove myself to anyone. I enjoy port and wine, but I don't look for "stronger" wine or "heavier" wine, I look for wines that taste good. And price is not an issue with cigars or wine either. I have had $2 cigars and $12 bottles of wine that are significantly better than much their more expensive counterparts.
Okay, with that being said, and not wanting this to get into a discussion about what denotes "strength", why is that mellow cigars seem to be so one dimensional? "The Texans were my best soldiers. Not once did I see their backs in battle" Robert E. Lee
