(sigh) I want to use the sponsors too. It's gotta be worthwhile though.

The last 4 may just be a validation that they can use to validate AGE.

I'm on this guys - going to talk to Joe tomorrow.

Whatever it's for, I am not comfortable with it at all.

I did hear that this is an age verification requirement due to new regulations. I agree, it did make my stomach turn a bit when I first put it in.

I will say that the 20% off discount was fantastic and I really wish Joe would bring it back. That being said, they’re pretty clear with their emails on what their promo codes apply to and don’t...I always try though lol. I love the extras they throw into every purchase; however, like you guys, I’m extremely price sensitive.

I had some email exchanges with their CSR Chris on Saturday, very fast response and he explained what was going on with the discounts and their CC processor. Their CC processor uses the SS last four for age verification somehow. Since I'm not comfortable with this, I just called up Chris and placed my order over the phone and he didn't ask for it. I remember doing this last time and to me not a big deal. Chris was very nice and professional and I certainly appreciate that kind of service. As a member here for almost 18 years I think it's important to use our sponsors, and want to do so when I can.

Thank you for understanding.
CC processors are really hard on 'tobacco' retailers, even now that they've ended the 'chokepoint' program (had me out of pocket for 450$ for over a year, that, ordered cigarettes - legally, prior to the shut down date - but they seized the accounts of all the indian reservations in NY state...)
Using the phone is certainly acceptable. The last 4 of social is pretty innocuous, but I get it. Don't give what you don't need to.

Discussions in progress. Stay tuned.

Any updates on this? I've placed several orders with JR and Holt's since this thread opened.
