RT Walnut Chest Humidor
The RT humidor as I bought it. Varnish has gone dark and it had white spots on top.
Looks a little better refinished. I couldn't figure out what the wood is on this box. I settled on teak, which is foolish. Looking at it now I think it's walnut. Just cut with a grain that isn't usual. Pretty sweet wood though! This thing was in bad shape! Major improvement! Interior as bought. All glass, pretty typical for the type. This is a classy looking box. I was really happy with this humidor. |

You have an enviable touch with wood.

That looks great.
Question about the interior... Is the glass white like milk glass or is the box painted white behind the glass?

It is milk glass. Milk glass was used for an extended period. Maybe 1900 through the 40s.
But some much later humidors use clear glass that is painted or has paper on the back side. |

Do you get stained glass sheets to use? That could get expensive. Twelve by twelve pieces at a few bucks a sheet, and the big humidor might need a sheet for each side and for bottom.

I think that would be an unnecessary expense. I re-purpose the existing glass. And I usually replace the sides with Spanish cedar.
