It is a sad day, my first Poppery burned out

My first roaster and faithful companion for over 12 years. Paid $2 for it. I had to break out my other one that I paid $4 for. I wonder if I can find another one.

They can be found but since they became popular with the home roast crowd vice the popcorn crowd you will pay a premium for them. Enough that I learned how to use other machines and frankly have never used a Poppery for home roast.

There is a devoted following though. MadDawg had quite the inventory of them IIRC.

Best,
J.

Sadly, he no longer seems to come here. But I see him on FB.
What do you use?

I use a Presto Poplite. I burnt up the first one after about 7 years.

Even at that you are talking the comparatively exorbitant 15-20 dollar price point.

Far pricier than even your most expensive poppery 1. Hopefully you get 12 years out of this one too and there won't be a problem.

Thus far my poplite has been great and has roasted me some delicious coffee! Takes about 6 minutes to get it 30 seconds or so into second crack.

Trundling away with my Behmore.
Compared to the price I would have been paying for inferior coffee roasted commercially, I've paid for it 2 or three times over.
