Pick my Peterson
I'm debating between the 69 and the XL90 for shape, but I can't see a noticeable difference between the two, other than a larger stem on the latter. Anyone with experience care to explain the difference to me? Thanks.

hmm, from the pics on the peterson website, they're different sizes, different shapes, gonna smoke a little bit differently.... the xl90 has thicker walls, it looks like. it's also probably heavier. if you're a big "clencher," that might be a factor to take into consideration. imo, the 69 would be a better "walking-around" pipe.
both have the peterson "p-lip" mouthpiece, which directs the smoke at your upper palate instead of your tongue. some people love it (maybe including you), i hate it. my only pete is a GIGANTIC bent billiard, nice tan birdseye briar, thick stem, and (oddly enough for a peterson), no metal. I think it's from the 60's, but because of it's size (and the p-lip mouthpiece), I rarely smoke it. It's barely broken in. one of these days, I'm going to find a repairman who can change the mouthpiece into a normal one. ZachS |

Zach ... I'd recommend Tim West to help with your stem replacement. He made a couple new ones for some old Caminetto's that I bought off Ebay in 2004. Email him at TWest1@columbus.rr.com
