I opened a bottle of brandy earlier tonight, and the sad, dispirited "plong" sound it made nearly broke my heart. It set me to thinking. My uncle Larry, one of the greatest men in Nebraska at his time, was fond of saying "there is no more beautiful sound than the opening of a new bottle of Drambuie."

he was right. Popping the plug on the wonderfully shaped, heavy glass bottle released a sound unequaled in any dram based experience. It was a resonant, ringing thump, or thrum, so to speak, that could be heard a mile away, and draw people from clear across the county.

Now, in order to save 20 or 30 cents, it comes with a screw top.
