I've just been reading Nee's book and it generally agrees with what emind56 says. Basically, he says if you're going to age your cigars for just a few years, some air exhange is good in that it gets the cigars to each stage of maturity faster. However, if they are sealed as much as possible from oxygen, the cigars will be better at each of the three stages of maturity. The problem is it takes longer to get to each stage.

I can only dream of smoking a cigar at the third stage of maturity .
