Traveling Cigars
I am just getting ready to head to the Keys for the winter and of course I am bringing a humidor with some good smokes with me. My question is since I will be leaving from Michigan and will spend two nights on the road at least one of which will be in 40 to 50 degree weather overnight will my habanos be ok or should I bring them inside?
Thanks for the help I know I will get.

If your travel isn't huge and cumbersome, you may as well bring it into the hotel room with you. However, I doubt those temps would have any adverse effects if you leave them in the car overnight for a couple of nights.

Cigars don't liek rapid temperature changes. Best to bring them inside with you.

Take them in and smoke in the hotel room.

I would also take them indoor with me.
However, when I brought up the subject of cigar traveling (or my traveling with cigars, same thing) with the feisty owner of my local B&M, he pointed out at the stack of yet unpacked UPS and/or FedEx boxes – his most recent delivery, and asked me: “What do you think happen to them on UPS and FedEx vehicles? Most of the time they originate their travel from Florida, (where is very hot in the summer, and much warmer than Maryland in the winter), and travel by planes, trains, trucks, etc. Do you think trucks and train wagons are climate controlled? Not to mention that it is literally freezing cold in the plane cargo compartments.” Not to get even more upset, I didn’t even bring up the subject of what happens on much longer shipping trips from Central America to Florida, or while waiting, often for weeks, to clear the customs, again, in Florida in the middle of July. Actually, this is not to inflict fear – the cigar shop guy thinks that cigars are much more resilient than what we think about them. In the interest of fairness, I need to mention that this guy does not have a negligent attitude, in that he maintains perfect conditions in his very sizable walk-in humidor. Men, what do you think about it?

I have read it, and actually done many of the things suggested with no problems myself. The OtterBox is THE WAY to transport cigars. Carry them on if you can. I am also warry of things disapearing out of checked baggage, especially a solid black box.
