Try to find one of these...you won't have to look long...they're everywhere like eBay, tag sales, thrift shops and cheap. It does a pretty good job unmodified, as long as you limit it to a small amount of green beans (like 1/3) cup and you don't want a real dark french roast. I still use one like this at my parents house in Florida when I visit. Toss the plastic top away and get yourself an aluminum colander. With the above setup and some judicious reading at the sites already listed (as well as CW searches) you'll well be on your way. There is a ton of info out there. Have fun!
