new coffee pot...

It's possible that every one of you guys has already heard of it.

While in the hospital and whenever I ran into anyone else such as home care nurses, I've been pushing the hell out of the aeropress, mostly because the coffee on the general stroke ward sucked so bad, and everyone complained about it and asked me how I could stand to drink it. Stroke ICU had decent coffee.

As I was telling one woman how great the aeropress was, she suggested another. a chemex pot. It's a basic pourthrough pot, big enough for over a pint, with the aeropress working out to be maybe half that batch.

I just got one today. It's a borosilicate beaker, it uses huge heavy brown filters. Instructions are pretty much like any other coffee maker. Boiling water. round Tbsp per 5 ounce measure. Wet the coffee in the filter, bloom for a while, then slow pour through of remaning water. Suck filter dry.

The coffee came out strong and smooth, pretty much like the aeropress does. It looks like a winner. Probably should just set my grinder to a finer grind and put my drip doojie away, but there are times that you just have to have a quart of coffee on the counter.

Not trying to promote it as a great thing, but it's going on the counter, and I think the french press will go on the top shelf. It's the most compact coffee device I have now. You guys should look at it maybe.

I think that the areropress is great for single cups, and it's the easiest to use, I think, and it's staying on the counter too. It makes a great shot for myself and wife in the morning. I take it straight, sugar and cream in hers, 4 oz for her and 6 for me.

Filters average fifteen cents each!!
