Mixers

Wife wants a mixer.

She keeps looking at the tiny little shitty things that are basically a small hand mixer that will sit on a stand also. I told her that she is not getting something like that that will break easily. She needs a good quality, heavy-duty mixer like my mom had.

Lately, all I've seen advertised is the Kitchenaide one going for $200, and some others from Sunbeam. Who makes a quality mixer these days?

If I could find one of the old ones at an estate sale or antique shop, I'd grab it up lickity-split.

You want a Kitchen Aid and you don't want one with a glass bowl. Pay the extra and get the one with the stainless bowl and lifting lever. You'll never need to buy another one. Look through the factory reconditioned ones at Amazon. They are about half of retail and warrantied like new ones. Many times reconditioning is just regluing an open opened box.

I think this is the one that all of the stores seem to be selling for $200.

That looks a lot like mine and about the same price. I can't tell if it has the lift lever, as it is on the other side. Purchase the silicone stirrer. It hugs the sides of the bowl better than the stirrer that comes with it. Likely will be your most used accessory.

Stirrer for the inside of the bowl, right?

Here is the other side of it.

And the listing on Amazon.

That's the one. Other models are less expensive, but this one's delivered almost 20 years of hard work and is not showing any signs of wear. Mine is white so it goes with everything in the kitchen.
