I mixed up a 50/50 bowl of Gawith Hoggarths American Cherry and Vanilla with Condor Blended. I enjoyed a pleasant hour in the sun (which was well timed as it started snowing after I got back inside).

You can check out my thoughts on this sweet pipe tobacco here.

Kevie,

Have you tried Sam Gawith's Celtic Talisman? It's a Virginia/Burley blend with a light cherry note. I didn't care for it at first bowlfull, but then I started to enjoy it, and now, it's all smoked up! I guess I'll have to order some more of it soon.

Hi Jack,

No I have not. I may order a sample size, but I think I'm going to stay away from aromatics after that experience. But thanks for the recommendation

Kevie, I agree with Conrad on the Talisman, good aromatic tobacco. I also like SG Firedance. I am no big fan of aromatics, but I do like these two a lot.

If you feel like trying something strong, I highly recommend Gawith Hoggarth Dark tobaccos like the Dark Flake (Unscented), Dark Plug, or the Kendal Dark Shag. These are Virginia and Burley blends using the strongest tobaccos I have ever experienced. Keep in mind smoking these tobaccos slow tames the strength and smokes more enjoyable IMO.

Stonehaven always a good smoke. Charring the pipe like that is the reason I try to buy pipes that are all dark. Hides the char marks.

Yeah, I wanted the version of this pipe that had the dark rustication on the top of the bowl as well, but this one was so much less expensive when I found it on sale.

I’ll be smoking Samual Gawith Best Brown Flake aged 8 years. Smoking in my C Pipes Morta Poker. This tobacco was a medium tan when I first got it. It has really darkened over time. Still very wet and will require at least an hour of drying time before smoking. The jar aroma is sweet dried fruits like plums and raisins. Not a very strong tobacco, but flavors are sweet and satisfying.
