Who actually buys this sh*t?
In this month's cA, I saw a cool-looking new Xikar cutter. It's a Xi3, but with a collage of Cuban cigar band and box art decorating the handles. I thought that it looked really cool and would compliment my cigar band ashtrays, so I started looking to see how much it was.
It's called the Xikar Xi3 Havana Collection (comes in a few different styles)....and the f*cker costs $299!!! Considering the normal Xi3 is around $80, how the hell can you get off charging almost four times as much when the ONLY difference is that the handles have some artwork. Supposedly it's put together by a French artist...yeah yeah blah blah blah...but if you're going to charge four times as much, couldn't you have at least been smart enough to give it a stronger blade or something else to entice the fool that parting with his three hundred dollars might actually be smart? I have a Xi2 and love it...but you won't see me shelling out enough money for 2-3 boxes of cigars just for a cutter. </rant> |
