Last night I did a test of wrapper taste, quite unintentionally. I had a Part. 898V in my coat for smoking on the ride home and it got damaged; the wrapper was torn and completely off the first half of the cigar. I decided to smoke the whole thing anyway.
I was smoking it in the car, at night, so I couldn't see it well. Suddenly I noticed a change in the taste. Not huge, but clearly there. I had hit the wrapper. Now, there is lots of discussion about how much taste the wrapper imparts to a cigar. Well in this case I have to say about 50%. The base taste of the filler was still there, but some added tastes were coming thru. Neither overpowered the other. So one the greatest questions plaguing mankind has been answered by this definitive, scientific study. The answer is 50%. "How about a nice Habana Punch!"
